Membership

Objectives

The primary objective of this department shall be preservation and protection of life and property from fire, and to aid the community in any emergency, disaster, or any situation which requires the services of the department.

Eligibility

Any person residing in or near the boundaries set forth by the department and desires to cooperate with the members in carrying out the objectives of the department, has been a resident of the community for six months, is eighteen years of age, physically capable of doing fire duty, and is in good moral character and steady habits.

Each candidate must present a written application with appropriate fee, to a member of the membership committee. Pending a review and recommendation of the Membership Committee, the candidate shall be accepted or denied by a majority vote of the department.

Probationary Member

A newly elected member shall be placed on a probationary member basis for a period of one year. The following requirements are have been set forth to meet your probationary year of service:

    Maintain a 50% attendance to calls, drills, meetings, and special events.

    Must obtain a physical appointment within 30 days of being voted in as a probationary member.

After a period of one year, the probationary member will be reviewed by the Membership Committee, who will then present a recommendation to the members. The probationary member shall have all rights and privileges of an active member, with the exception of holding office of the first year.

Any interested candidate may inquire on membership at the Northville Fire Department any Wednesday between the hours of 7pm and 8pm, and Sunday between the hours of 9am and 11am.
